Pete Lawrence

Education

Dr. Lawrence’s education includes: Claremont Men’s College (now Claremont McKenna College): AB in Business Economics; Stanford University: BS, MS & PhD, Management Science and Engineering (previously Industrial Engineering); 4 years of ROTC with commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. Promoted to 1st Lieutenant before the end of a two year tour of active duty.

Experience

Pete has many years of professional data processing experience, has developed more than 40 major software systems and has been a consultant for 8 major projects.

After receiving his PhD Pete spent two years as a visiting professor at The University of British Columbia in the Transportation Division of the Commerce Department. While there he conducted research into Port Planning and developed a Computer Simulation of Port Operations for Planning. Simulation used and calibrated in the Port of Vancouver British Columbia,

In 1972 Pete began consulting with an international consulting firm. His major project with that company was a long range study to determine the future facility requirements for the Port of Tanjuk Priok, Jakarta, Indonesia. This study involved simulating future port operations under various economic growth plans.

In addition to the Indonesian project, the Port Simulation model was used to plan and analyze the operations of an off-shore salt loading terminal off the coast of Brazil. The simulation was enhanced to include simulation of the barge operations from the terminal to up-river destinations including the restrictions of tidal flow on the depth of the river.

He left that firm in 1976 to become an independent consultant and to develop business systems software. In 1978, Peter A. Lawrence and Associates, Inc. was incorporated in the State of Washington.

As an independent consultant he performed planning simulations to the ports of Halifax Nova Scotia and Port of Seattle, Washington.

In 1984 Pete began developing a comprehensive set of business application development tools, including a data base management system. All current business applications are based on these capabilities. They make system design, development, support and system enhancement more efficient and less costly than more traditional programming methods. They also provide a more stable and more error free data processing environment.

Major systems included: Public Warehousing Management , Commercial on locatiton and in-plant cleaning services, and Ski School management, and multi-company Sales Analysis and Automated Payroll systems.

Since then Pete has applied his software to numerous businesses and projects. In the late 1990’s the company began designing websites.
